2018 Dream and Goals Board

Motivation Board, Dream Board, Goals Board…..

In the last post I talked about all of the goals and resolutions I have created for this new year. Today,  I want to share with you how I remind myself of these goals and h

ow I work to obtain them.  This is  more of a general thing than specifics into each goal.

I decided to create a dream board (or whatever you wish to call it) to visually remind me of the goals I set so that I am more motivated to reach them.

The STEPS:

For the Dream Board I First went to Pinterest and looked up pictures.

I typed in places I wanted to travel, goals I have, and things I found esthetically pleasing.  Then, I copied and pasted them, along with pictures I took and had on my computer, to a word document so I could print them.

I typed up some of the goals I had and places I want to visit in a pretty font and printed those out as well.

I then covered an ugly piece of cardboard in pretty wrapping paper and glued the pictures and the words on it and there you have it.

It took me no time at all to do this and it turned out very pretty.  I like to look at it when I am feeling unmotivated.

Hope you enjoy and don’t forget to take pictures of your boards and tag me in them so I can see them all!!

xoxo,

Morgan

My Goals for the New Year

Two thousand and seventeen. Its been a crazy year and I cannot believe that it has come to and end.  Last year has gone by so quickly and so much has happen.  I graduated college, I got a job at a pharmacy, I started a blog, I went to Gatlinburg with Andrew and a group of friends.  I created so many memories this year, but I look forward to making many more this year.

Its time to create my bucket list for 2018!

  1. Decide on my career and get accepted to graduate school
  2. Move out of my parents house and learn to live more independently
  3. Visit 3 new cities that I have never been to
  4. Try a new restaurant and a food I have not tried
  5. Go horseback riding through mountains in Nevada
  6. Go swimming in the Pacific Ocean
  7. Exercise 2-3 per week
  8. Eat out less and eat healthier food
  9. Post a new blog at least once a week
  10. Beging to learn to play the piano
  11. Visit San Diego
  12. Reach 1k followers on Instagram

These goals are small goals that are extremely obtainable, but are goals that I want to work towards this year.  Some of them are fun things I want to do and others are things I want to work towards to become a healthier and happier individual.

What are your goals for the new year?

With love,

Morgan

Gift Basket Ideas

December is about giving. Giving love and showing others how much you care about them. Christmas is now less than two weeks away, which means there is only a short time left for us to finish up our shopping.  This week I wanted to share with you some last minute gift baskets that everyone if sure to love!

Movie Night Basket

We all love having a night off to just relax and enjoy watching a movie, so why not make a basket for someone that is full of the movie essentials.  Include popcorn, a movie or two, some boxed candy, a bottle of their favorite beverage, and a gift card to a movie theater or to their favorite store.  Its thoughtful and a lot of fun.  It’s an easy gift that can be tailored to anyone’s tastes.

A Coffe Lover’s Basket

This is the gift I would most like to receive out of all of these.  Get a cute basket and some cute coffee mugs.  Put a bag or two of coffee grains in there with a Starbucks or a Dunkin’ Donuts gift card and your all set.  Maybe throw in a warm blanket and some socks so this person is warm on a cold winter’s morning.  They don’t like coffee, switch out the coffee for hot chocolate!

The Sport Enthusiast Basket

Start with a t-shirt of their favorite team. Add in some tickets to an upcoming basketball game, throw in a basketball, a lanyard, some socks and you’ve got a slam dunk!

Makeup Lover Basket

Every beauty lover’s dream is to receive a basket full of makeup goodies. Fill this basket with some lipsticks, blushes, eyeshadows, brushes and more. Add in a gift card to Ulta or Sephora. Its one that is sure to wow.

Hope you enjoy!

Great Christmas Movies To Watch As A Family

There are so many channels on TV counting down the days till Christmas with holiday specials.  I wanted to share with you my favorites, AKA the ones I make sure to watch every year.

  1. Elf

Who doesn’t love Will Farrell as Buddy the Elf? I watch this movie year around.  If you haven’t seen this one then stop reading right now and go watch it.  I promise you will not regret it.  Its full of laughter and love and is perfect for watching at all ages.

2. Home Alone

Another great movie.  This one isn’t your typical movie featuring Santa Claus or anything super magical, but Home Alone (I like the first two ones the best) is a great movie if you want a good laugh and if you are wanting to get away from the typical Christmas movies.

3. Sana Claus

I have a secret (not anymore) obsession with these movies.  I could watch them a hundred times. Tim Allen makes a great Santa Claus.  Again this is a great one for the family and features you typical Christmas characters such as Santa, Elves, and even some unexpected fairy tale characters.

4. Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas

“He’s a mean one Mr. Grinch”

I singing along while watching this one.  I like this one better than the one featuring Jim Carrey.  (Don’t get me wrong he makes and excellent Grinch), but I like to stick with the classics when remakes occur.

5. A Year Without Santa

Any of the movies on FreeForm with that cute little roses-cheeked Santa fall into this category. You know exactly who I am talking about right? This one is all about Santa missing Christmas (What?!).

Time for everyone to get on Amazon, Netflix, Hulu, etc. and look up all of these great movies.

Enjoy and Merry Christmas!!

Morgan

Ornaments, Stocking, Red, and Green

Thanksgiving is now behind us which means that it is time to get the house ready for Christmas! It means hanging ornaments everywhere and covering the house in red and green.

Decorating for Christmas!

It is one of my favorite nights of the year.  I love putting up and decorating the tree.  Decorating the house is one of my favorite Christmas traditions.   Since Madison is away at college, this year it was Macey, my Mom and I.

My mom starts by putting up the tree and fluffing the branches the way she likes.  Then, us girls start taking turns putting on our own ornaments that we have accumulated over the years. Its tradition that on St. Nick Night we each get an ornament and start the morning by putting it on the tree that morning, so we have quite the collection of ornaments.

Lots of Ornaments

One the tree is covered in ornaments we go about the rest of the house Hanging stockings, putting out figurines, and so on. We are doing this all while listening to Christmas music and are dancing and singing.  It is one of those night where we are all laughing and smiling.

Christmas is my favorite holiday because it means getting to spend time surrounded by family.  It means fires and hot chocolate and wonderful lights.  It means celebrating the birth of Jesus and being thankful for the year that has passed.

What are some of your favorite Christmas traditions? And what is you favorite Christmas ornament to put on the tree?

Happy Holidays,

Morgan

PS: My Favorite Ornament is the one from my first Christmas because even though I do not remember it, I like to think that I enjoyed it as much then as I do now. Only now I know what the celebration is about and can make memories that I will remember for year to come.

My Current Morning Routine

Today I wanted to share with you all my current morning routine.  This is what I have been doing lately to stay more fit and more productive.

A new goal of mine is to start waking up earlier.  I have been sleeping in way too much and have started to feel like I am wasting my day. I would sleep till 8:30- 9:00.  My new goal is to be up and out of bed by 7 am. and be ready to go by 9 am.

** The times below are rough estimates of how long things normally take me to accomplish in the morning.  Some mornings I get things done more quickly and other morning it takes me longer.

6:50 – Alarm Goes Off

I use the clock app on my iPhone to set my alarm.  I have it set at this time because that gives me a few minutes to wake up before I want to be up and out of bed to get started with my day.

7:00 – Head to the workout room

In my basement my dad and I have set up a bench with weights, a treadmill, and a yoga mat.  Here is where I like to do my morning workouts. This will last anywhere form 30 minutes to an hour depending on what I want to do that day and what I have time for.

7:45 – Shower

Even if I do not workout I always get a shower before anything else. Washing my hair everyday is important because I have a very oily scalp. Next, I also use this time to get dressed.  I like to pick out my clothes in the morning because if I pick them out at night I will most likely change my mind by the time I wake up.

8:00 – Breakfast

Everyone always says breakfast is the most important meal of the day.  I used to be very skeptical of this, but over the past year I have found that I do enjoy breakfast and feel more energized throughout the day when I eat a healthy meal in the morning.  Since our seven chicken have began to lay eggs I have been enjoying two scrambled eggs in the morning with a choice of meat and some fruit.

8:30 – Brush teeth / face routine

Even though I just showered I always get my face prepped for makeup after breakfast.  I will usually rinse off my face after brushing my teeth and then I will apply moisturizer.

8:40 – Hair and makeup

Most of the time I just kind of let my hair do whatever at this point.  It is usually pretty dry by now and I can brush through it an pull it back.  For makeup I will usually keep it minimal.  Light foundation and mascara.

It is usually about 9:00 by the time I finish.

I hope you all enjoyed my morning routine.  Leave me some comments about what you like to do in the morning.  What do you like for breakfast?

Places to Explore Around Cincinnati, Ohio

Hello and Good Afternoon!

As most of you know, I am from a small city just outside Cincinnati, Ohio.  Today I wanted to share with you some fun things you can do in and around Cincinnati.  Some of these are pricier and some you can do with just a tank of gas.  I wanted to include activities for all ages so that you may enjoy the city as a family, as a couple, or just on your own.

Cincinnati Zoo

One of my favorite places to go if I have some extra money and a nice day to spare is the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden.  My friends and I visited the Zoo a couple of weeks ago and we had a great time.  There are so many awesome exhibits with al different kinds of animals.  You are able to feed Giraffes and they have a petting zoo.

Currently the Zoo is known for two things:

  1. The little boy that fell in with the Gorilla
  2. The baby hippo Fiona
African Lions
Asian Elephants

Giraffes

I would love to visit the Zoo more often.

Sporting Events

Cincinnati is not known for having great sports teams, but with several large colleges in the area, an NHL team, an NFL team, an MLB team, and now FC Cincinnati, there are so many sporting events to chose from.  Xavier and UC have decent basketball teams, UC has an OK football team.  Win or lose, you’ll have a good time.

Cincinnati Children’s Museum

Another kid and adult friendly place to go is the Children’s Museum.  Currently it is being renovated, but you can still visit some of the exhibits. Through October they have the Star Wars Costume exhibit.  They have dozens of costumes worn by the actors in the Star Wars movies.  As a huge nerd and Star Wars lover, I really enjoyed the exhibit and think that it was worth every penny.

For the kids, they have great play area with a lot of activities.  They have little stores they can pretend to work and shop at, sand and water area, along with many other things.

Cincinnati Art Museum

The Art Museum is another family friendly place to go.  There are coloring activities for the kids and the works of art are astounding.  The best part is, it is free to come. They have a cafe where you can purchase food and a gift shop for some souvenirs. Everything is located inside, so its great for a rainy-day activity also.

MadTree Brewery

For those of us over twenty-one and who like beer (myself not included in the liking beer part) there are many local breweries in Cincinnati.  I chose this one because it is the only brewery I have been to.  They have a large beer selection and they also have pizza.  I would recommend checking it out!

Graeter’s IceCream

So this isn’t one place that you have to visit, but its something you have to try if you love ice-cream and are not from around here.  If you love Coffee and Chocolate I would recommend Mocha Chip.  I would recommend anything with chocolate chips in them, they are giant and to die for.

These are some of my favorite places, but there are many more places to visit and actives to do in and around Cincinnati.

Some more places and activities include:

  • Newport Aquarium (Newport, KY)
  • Loveland Castle  (OH)
  • Rhinegeist Brewery (OH)
  • King’s Island (OH)
  • Anderson Ferry
  • Edgewater Racing
  • Freedom Center
  • Krohn’s Conservatory
  • Eden Park

If you are from Cincinnati leave me some more activities to try in the comments.  If you are not from around here tell me what city you are form or what city you like to visit and some activities you like to do there.

Enjoy the rest of your day and the rest of your week!

Love,

Morgan

My Bucket List: Travel Edition

Hi and Welcome!

Last week I shared with you all 7 Things You Probably Don’t Know About Me.  Like I said at the end of that post, this week I want to share with you my travel bucket list.  There are so many places in the world I want to travel, and some of these places I have already been, but they were originally on my bucket list.

Made from Canva.com

My Travel Bucket List

  1. Alaska

I am not exactly sure why I want to visit Alaska so much.  Where in Alaska do I even want to go?  For some reason the place is calling to me.    I think it may be the fact that it is part of the US, but it is so far off in its own place that I want to see what it is like.

  1. Greece

I think this one kind of explains itself.  Have you seen pictures of Greece at night?  It’s beautiful.  I want to see if the views are anything like the pictures.

  1. Iceland

A friend of mine got engaged in Iceland last year, and the pictures she posted on Instagram and Facebook looked so amazing I added it to my bucket list.  It may be cold, but how can you pass up the beauty?

  1. California

I went to LA about 3 years ago and I loved it.  It is not a place I would want to live, but getting to visit for a week was an awesome experience. Hopefully I will be going back next summer because I have a family member getting married there (He lives in LA).  I also want to see San Diego; I have family in San Diego also.

  1. New York City

The city that never sleeps.  I want to see if this city is as great as some make it out to be.  I am not a city person, but it looks amazing.  The food alone gives me every reason to want to visit.

6. The Grand Canyon

Standing on top of the Grand Canyon overlooking everything has always been a dream of mine.  The pictures are breathtaking on their own.  I can not imagine how it will feel to experience it in person.  This may be my number one place in the world I want to visit.

These are the 6 places currently on my bucket list.  I am sure that more will be added over the years.  Let me know in the comments you favorite places to visit and the place you want to visit most.
