Places to Explore Around Cincinnati, Ohio

Hello and Good Afternoon!

As most of you know, I am from a small city just outside Cincinnati, Ohio.  Today I wanted to share with you some fun things you can do in and around Cincinnati.  Some of these are pricier and some you can do with just a tank of gas.  I wanted to include activities for all ages so that you may enjoy the city as a family, as a couple, or just on your own.

Cincinnati Zoo

One of my favorite places to go if I have some extra money and a nice day to spare is the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden.  My friends and I visited the Zoo a couple of weeks ago and we had a great time.  There are so many awesome exhibits with al different kinds of animals.  You are able to feed Giraffes and they have a petting zoo.

Currently the Zoo is known for two things:

  1. The little boy that fell in with the Gorilla
  2. The baby hippo Fiona
African Lions
Asian Elephants

Giraffes

I would love to visit the Zoo more often.

Sporting Events

Cincinnati is not known for having great sports teams, but with several large colleges in the area, an NHL team, an NFL team, an MLB team, and now FC Cincinnati, there are so many sporting events to chose from.  Xavier and UC have decent basketball teams, UC has an OK football team.  Win or lose, you’ll have a good time.

Cincinnati Children’s Museum

Another kid and adult friendly place to go is the Children’s Museum.  Currently it is being renovated, but you can still visit some of the exhibits. Through October they have the Star Wars Costume exhibit.  They have dozens of costumes worn by the actors in the Star Wars movies.  As a huge nerd and Star Wars lover, I really enjoyed the exhibit and think that it was worth every penny.

For the kids, they have great play area with a lot of activities.  They have little stores they can pretend to work and shop at, sand and water area, along with many other things.

Cincinnati Art Museum

The Art Museum is another family friendly place to go.  There are coloring activities for the kids and the works of art are astounding.  The best part is, it is free to come. They have a cafe where you can purchase food and a gift shop for some souvenirs. Everything is located inside, so its great for a rainy-day activity also.

MadTree Brewery

For those of us over twenty-one and who like beer (myself not included in the liking beer part) there are many local breweries in Cincinnati.  I chose this one because it is the only brewery I have been to.  They have a large beer selection and they also have pizza.  I would recommend checking it out!

Graeter’s IceCream

So this isn’t one place that you have to visit, but its something you have to try if you love ice-cream and are not from around here.  If you love Coffee and Chocolate I would recommend Mocha Chip.  I would recommend anything with chocolate chips in them, they are giant and to die for.

These are some of my favorite places, but there are many more places to visit and actives to do in and around Cincinnati.

Some more places and activities include:

  • Newport Aquarium (Newport, KY)
  • Loveland Castle  (OH)
  • Rhinegeist Brewery (OH)
  • King’s Island (OH)
  • Anderson Ferry
  • Edgewater Racing
  • Freedom Center
  • Krohn’s Conservatory
  • Eden Park

If you are from Cincinnati leave me some more activities to try in the comments.  If you are not from around here tell me what city you are form or what city you like to visit and some activities you like to do there.

Enjoy the rest of your day and the rest of your week!

Love,

Morgan
